Dance Marathon aims to aid Children's Miracle Network

Students rolled out to support the annual Dance Marathon philanthropy Friday at OU's Houston Huffman Center.

This year, the Dance Marathon executive committee, the Campus Activities Council and the OU community helped raise $34,000 to support Children's Miracle Network, according to Danielle Borgeois, student chair of the event. The amount raised by OU was matched by the Children's Hospital Network, equalling a grand total of $68,000 for the cause.

The Houston Huffman Center was home to the event that lasted from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the morning. Students who participated paid a $20 entry fee to help CMN. Participants then stayed all night and were catered as well entertained the entire time.

Basketball and volleyball tournaments, food, dancing and more attracted the large student crowd. There was also a children's carnival earlier in the afternoon where bounce houses and other games were produced for children of the community.

"I thought the student support was excellent," said Borgeois. "Everyone that came seemed like they had a really good time."

Superbowl Party

Couch throws Super Bowl party for students

The Couch dorm tower hosted OU's annual Super Bowl party this Sunday in the downstairs lobby.

Game coverage started at 5:00 p.m. and all students were invited to come. The event was hosted by the resident advisors (RA's) and the Faculty in Residence board.

All students were welcome to drinks, pizza, sandwiches and cake provided by both the RA's and FIR. Couches and chairs provided comfy seats for students to watch the game on a giant projector screen.

"I had a great time," said Ryan Beck, University College freshman. "My plans got cancelled to go over to my buddy's place and I thought I was just going to sit up in my room. Lucky for me I walked by and saw this."
